Adjustable edge iron with fudge wheel by Graf & Oertel, Groitzsch b. Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. This company was famous for his tools for the mechanized shoe manufacturing.
This rarely seen iron is used to finish sole edges of turn shoes or shoes with glued construction. It finishes the sole edge and gives decorative stitching marks at the same time. This was - and is still - common practice in order to give glued shoes the typical sole marking of sewn shoes.
The edge iron is adjustable up to 9,5 mm. The fudge wheel has 11 spi and a width of 3,0 mm. The construction of Graf & Oertel was protected as you can see the mark D.R.G.M. This was the small brother of a patent before 1945 "Deutsches Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster".
The iron is in ready to use condition.
