
2 x German awls for welting in different sizes. This awls are also called "Steyrische Ahle". They are made by awl and needle factory Burkhardt, Kaupert & Co, Schmalkalden, Germany under the brand name "Maeder".
Available length: 35 mm, 50 mm, 60 mm, 70 mm, 80 mm, 110 mm and 130 mm
Available bend: normal bend and flat bend
Size 35 mm up to 80 mm are sold in pairs. Size 110 mm and 130 mm are sold by the unit.
IMPORTANT: As a rule, awls need to be sharpened before they are used for the first time. Triangular files are used for this. After, the awl tip should be polished with a leather strop and polishing compound. Welting awls are sharpened from the top and stitching awls from both sides. When working with awls, always make sure that they are waxed before sewing.
